The Yoga & Spice programme would not be complete without Women’s Wellness retreats. Our one day and our residential options both provide an opportunity for women to come together in a supportive and nurturing environment.  Inspired by the teachings of Uma Dinsmore Tully’s Yoni Shakti, the yoga and relaxation practices on these week-ends are  open to all. More women than men practice yoga but many of the postures taught in traditional yoga classes were developed with men in mind. During this week-end we look to support the specific needs of the female body.

Just for women

When a group of women get together, without an agenda, a special energy is created. On our Women’s Wellness retreats, experiences are shared and bonds are created. we introduce the concept of Sangha and create a mini community for the week-end. At the same time our spacious site and our private accommodation allow time to individual reflection too. 

Our yoga/ movement yoga sessions during these week-ends include a variety of styles. Themes include pelvic health, better digestion, release of tension and of course menstrual issues and menopause.  As well as postures and movement we introduce a few  mantras (sounds) and mudras (hand gestures) to enhance women’s health.  There is supportive meditation, pranayama (breathing) and  Yoga Nidra (relaxation),  a transformative sound and gong bath. And  we allow for time in nature  – including  yoga by the waterfall.

Recipes and herbs

Food is an important part of the Yoga & Spice wellness ethos.  Our meals are nourishing and we include a food workshop . We discuss how the right diet for each individual  can enhance womens’ health. And in the process consider how Ayurveda, TCM and our own rich culture are able to alleviate the symptoms of many womens’ conditions from PMT and painful periods,  conception and infertility to  peri-menopause and menopause. Because our group numbers are small we can tailor the programme to include any issue that you would like to explore.


If you are looking to build your energy or improve your sleep patterns, you will leave with some practices to take forward into your life. Or perhaps you want to slow down and relax?  Or simply enjoy taking some time out for yourself? Whatever your aim, you will be able to share and explore what you need with others in a nurturing and supportive environment.
